Entrepreneurship Week Inaugaration

“When the going gets tough, entrepreneurs get going.” Said Prof. B.R.Natarajan , Dean, Distance Learning Division, BITS-Pilani, at the inauguration ceremony for the Entrepreneurship Week being organized by the Centre for Entrepreneurial Leadership(CEL), BITS-Pilani from 7th February to 15th February. E Week is being celebrated across the country in 400 colleges and with 2,00,000 students taking part, it is the gala celebration of the spirit of entrepreneurship.
The Entrepreneurship Week themed “Go Green: The World is our Business” at BITS-Pilani was kick started by reputed names from the field of entrepreneurship and the students of BITS-Pilani. Advising the students on the attitude required by entrepreneurs to survive in the current scenario, Prof. Arya Kumar, Faculty Advisor of CEL, told the students to “Think Big, Dream Big and Break New Frontiers.” Also present to grace the occasion was Professor Sunil Handa, alumnus of BITS-Pilani and presently a professor at IIM Ahmedabad, who has immense experience in the field of social entrepreneurship and also founded the Eklavya Educational Foundation. V.K. Desai, the founder of Tiny Tech Plans who is spear heading the social entrepreneurship movement in the country was present along with Kavikrut, an alumnus of BITS-Pilani and founder of mobile medics. These dignitaries are here to conduct a workshop on Social Entrepreneurship. They were impressed with the enthusiasm of the students and thus encouraged them to take up entrepreneurship. They further pointed out that this was probably the best time to start-up, advising the students to consider the global meltdown as an opportunity. A crowd of over two hundred students and faculty members also pledged to support entrepreneurship and make it a way of life.
The week will host a variety of events, including a marathon to show commitment for a cleaner and greener environment. Other events include online lecture sessions, movie screenings, debates, blogging, mobile videos and a t-shirt designing competition. The final round of the intra-Bits idea competition ‘Epsilon’, also organized by CEL, has been scheduled to take place on the final day of the week. The week promises to be an enriching experience for both the students and the faculty.
